The interesting that you were never told about breast implant surgery is that even though it takes a matter of hours to perform the operation the healing process is a long one that could take as much as six months. Even though the outcome is a good personal image with a great payoff in matters of self confidence many women give it up fearing the long recovery period. Breast surgery recovery begins the moment you leave the operating table and stay in the recover room for at least an hour where a nurse or the doctor will monitor you closely for any signs of bleeding or fever.
Risk of infection
All surgical procedures carry a degree of risk of infection and in order to prevent this that doctor will give you a string of antibiotics for the next few days so as to remove any such possibilities. During the procedure there are small tubes that are inserted in order to drain excessive fluids that could actually lead to infection. The attached bulbs need to be emptied and washed regularly but the doctor will give you clear instructions on how to do it so as to reduce complete exposure to germs.

Recovery after breast surgery
Movement while recovering
You will need to take careful attention on your movement and sleeping during the recovery period. One of the major challenges has usually got to do with the sleeping position. You may need to sleep on your back in order to ward off any pressure that could come as a result of sleeping on your stomach. Any amount of stretching or too much puling on the area that has been sutures will delay the healing process and should therefore be avoided at all costs. This is because unnecessary scarring takes place around the suture.
Lifting weights
It is recommended that you stay off lifting any weights that are heavier than five pounds for a while because it will cause some amount of stress on the wound area thus delay healing. Also included is any attempt to lift your own hands above the head during the healing period.
Avoid driving
When you leave the hospital you will be given a host of antibiotics to take home with you as well as pain relieving medication. It is however important to avoid driving for the first two days after the surgery. This is because you will still be under the influence of anesthesia that was used during the surgical procedure. Anesthesia takes time to wear off the body and two days are supposed to be sufficient to take care of that. You may not get a ticket for ‘driving under the influence’ but you want to prevent a scenario where you are likely to cause an accident and hurt someone else or yourself. You should try and actually stay off the driving seat for an entire week if possible.
